Law 11: Mr. Gilbert Lauengco

Subject: Law 11- Essentials of Philippine Business Law

General Advice: He keeps the entire class involved, making sure that everyone has significantly recited and become involved at least three times before the semester ends, so make sure that you are ready to be called on when he shuffles through the class index cards. Mr. Lauengco loves students who actually raise their hands and try to get involved, which can boost your participation points for the better, as long as you are able to provide substantial insights and analysis.

Teaching Style/Method: There is always a 5 or 10 point quiz to begin the class, which means that there are no room for latecomers. He will always refer to the readings in the book assigned, but will also give examples that students can better relate to. His favorite quote: “If you’re going to do something wrong, at least do it right.”

Requirements Level: Moderate

Study Habits: Always browse through the pages he assigned to be read. Failure to do so will result a zero in your next quiz.

A-able Factor (1-Easiest, 5- Hardest): 4 (You are meant for Ateneo Law School if you ace his class.)

Law 11: Mr. Danny Chan

Subject: Law 11 – Essentials of Philippine Business Law

General Advice: one you get used to his occasional remarks on how some students opted out of his class because of his “difficult teaching style,” you’d actually enjoy his classes and appreciate the strictness that he exudes in class. try not to get on his bad side, or else, you’d be called every meeting. and, unless you’re confident that you would know the answer to his questions, this is definitely not a good thing.

Teaching Style: Sir Danny uses actual cases in his explanation of the law, but in the process, he’s prone to discussing side bar stories which are not really directed to the lesson. thus, you must try to focus on the more pertinent facts in his narration and not get distracted by other details which are completely useless.

Requirements Level: Moderate (get the book and print the supplementary notes which are uploaded in his site)

Study Habits: Fair (his quizzes are really difficult–> this is what you should prepare for the most since their (quizzes) weight is equal to the rest of his requirements like midterms, finals, recitation and the final project)

A-able Factor: 3 (according to him, if you get an A in his class, you’d definitely pass in further law studies)

Law 11: Mr. Joseph Sedfrey Santiago

Subject: Law 11- Essentials of Philippine Business Law

General Advice: He is a very good teacher; he simplifies concepts that are learned in class through his examples. If you’re one who can take a little criticism and some light beating, then he’s the teacher for you. If you can’t read and speak your mind about your lesson then you may as well erase his name from your list. Surviving his class is a breeze if you’re up to the challenge; the greatest obstacle is the departmental midterms.

Teaching Style/Method: Moderate (He teaches through numerous examples and gives room for student insight. Justify your thoughts and he will listen)

Study Habits: Take down his advice regarding analysis of the case, listen to examples given in class and always come to class prepared.

A-able Factor (1-Easiest, 5- Hardest): 2
